Feature Me, Friday: This is what I call a cleanse.

Hi Friends!

Since it’s Valentine’s Day (one of my fav holidays), I decided to share with you two of my top cleansing products…Some options on ways to love YOURSELF this V-Day.

Hope you like this week's instalment.

Hope you like this week’s instalment.

The word ‘cleanse’ is everywhere, apparently we are always in need of a detox. ‘Cleanse’ and ‘Detox’ are without a doubt buzz words that obviously sell things, but are overused and as a result misused. Today, I wanted to share with you my two favorite ‘cleansing’ options. Both of these companies stand out for me, due to their holistic approach. They are natural, they aren’t extreme and they are do-able! A cleanse should make you slow down at meals, rethink your routine and most importantly, nourish your body. These two products do all three.

CLEANSE ONE: Skinny Girl Tea

This two-week cleanse is a gentle way to take more of a break from your routine and pause to start/end your day healthily. The cleanse requires you to brew their tea twice a day and drink it, first thing in the morning and before bed. I loved this ritual of waking up, waiting for my tea to steep, then sipping it while I started my day. I would recommend this cleanse in summer OR winter because I tried the tea hot and cold and loved it both ways. At night, I brewed the tea again but starting on the two night, I added the cleansing powder, which didn’t taste great but really helped with digestion, without causing frequent trips to the bathroom.

In addition to the twice per day drinks, the Skinny Girl Tea Team provides an eBook of suggested nutrition. Some days I ate very clean and was a Super Food fiend, but other days (mainly when we had catered lunches for clients), my eating wasn’t perfect.

Overall, this cleanse was relaxed and easy to follow AND resulted in less bloating, high energy and a clear mind. Also, I had total peace of mind knowing that I was getting a flatter stomach without scary ingredients…SGT only uses natural, non-GMO, organic products.

BONUS: This helped me develop patience. Waiting thirty minutes after drinking it in the morning gave me time to think about what my body was craving and properly create my breakfast.

SKINNY GIRL TEA is offering all Compost Cook readers 15% off their orders, with the code “compostcook”.

CLEANSE TWO: Kaeng Raeng

This cleanse is great! I’ve done juice cleanse before and was nervous about what this three-day detox would entail but I was pretty flexible with my approach to their system and felt great. This cleanse consists of drinking three of their smoothies daily, in addition to as much raw fruit and veggies that you crave. Due to my high activity level and large appetite, I had PLENTY of raw foods, but LOVED adding these smoothies to my routine because they ensured I had enough fiber and protein. Also, their flavors were great…not too sweet, but instead offering a complex taste with a hint of Holy Basil. Without the addition of my salads and raw nuts, this cleanse wouldn’t have been sustainable for me but with the added raw food, I LOVED this cleanse and felt that I could have continued on it for much longer.

OVERALL, two big thumbs up. I would definitely recommend adding raw foods to this cleanse but I managed to fly 18-hrs, workout twice in one day AND still maintain my cleanse (and sanity)…something I definitely couldn’t have done on a juicing-only cleanse.

BONUS: This cleanse is affordable! I really want to invest in having these smoothies daily, maybe just replacing one meal per day with one of these because not only was it delicious but it’s a nutritional super star that was easy to digest.

What cleanses have you tried? Were you able to maintain your sanity?

Detoxed LOVE,

The CC
